Tomi is a professional encourager and motivational speaker who strives to inspire individuals to continue building their resilience and practice healthy coping mechanisms of self-care. Tomi is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) and is evidenced based trained to speak to multiple communities, especially youth, about suicide prevention, mental health stigma reduction, and the importance of seeking mental health resources. Tomi has a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree which she uses to advocate for BIPOC mental health and health equity by facilitating collaboratives, coalitions, and workshops in the community she lives in to help bridge the gap of culturally competent health professionals to underserved populations. Tomi is a firm believer in practicing what she preaches by making sure she takes care of herself amongst the busyness of everyday life. As an encourager, Tomi loves to learn new dance moves, be in nature, spend quality time with family and friends, and most importantly, she loves to eat. Her family calls her F.F.O. which means “For Food Only” because food can be her motivation at times. In this chapter of her life, Tomi has realized that her faith in God, her community support, and the help of mental health professionals have all contributed greatly to her progressive mental health journey.
