The SLPs Role in Providing Trauma Informed Care is designed to support SLPs and SLPAs who work with a pediatric population [though TIC is good for all populations!] and need an introduction to understand the consequences of trauma and how trauma can impact and influence language skills. This includes prevalence and neurological impacts. Additionally, this course provides practical strategies on how to support students who have a trauma history and how to be more inclusive in your practice.

This event is offered for 1 contact hour or 0.1 Professional Hour CEUs at an introductory level professional area. Course completion is dependent on full attendance for 1 hour and survey completion.
Mary Bayliss is an ASHA-certified SLP. She has clinical experience working in both public schools and private therapeutic day schools (outplacement schools). Mary believes that using a trauma-responsive care approach is a skill all clinicians can use with both children and adults as part of best practice. Her interests involve supporting students in understanding their strengths and how to utilize them for their goals best, supporting coworkers in understanding the connected relationships between trauma, communication, and behavior, and supporting caregivers as they advocate for their children’s needs.
Kelley Bronsink is an ASHA-certified SLP. She has 20+ years of clinical experience working in schools serving children and families. Kelley believes trauma-responsive care is a practice and skill we can use in our workplace and daily routines. Her interests involve supporting students and staff to develop resiliency skills as well as coaching and encouraging educators as they strive for a more trauma-responsive environment.
